Rival groups of the Gulf Cartel (CDG) from Reynosa and Matamoros intensified at the end of 2023 with shootouts, pursuits, burning of vehicles, etc. Cartels continue to fight for the plaza of Río Bravo. Tamaulipas authorities confirmed armed confrontations without specifying casualties.
